SUMMARY:Inter-Livery Golf Croquet Day:
DESCRIPTION:Coordinated by The Master \nThe Worshipful Company of Glovers of London confirms the Inter-Livery Golf Croquet Competition will take place at Sussex County Croquet Club\, Kingston Lane\, Southwick\, BN43 6YW on Saturday\, 27 June 2026\, starting at 09:30. \nCosts & Refreshments: The entry fee of £85 per head includes all playing costs\, coffee or tea on arrival\, lunch & afternoon tea. There is a very limited number of spaces for non-players at a cost of £60 per person to include the lunch and refreshments offered to players. SCCC has a bar for the purchase of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; only card payments are accepted. \nCompetitions: As this competition has grown\, so has the standard of croquet among participants in the “A” event—the “Glovers Cup.” On the other hand\, the “B” competition\, known as the “Inter-Livery Challenge\,” continues to be an enjoyable tournament designed for those with little or no experience\, where coaching will be provided. Both events are played in pairs (doubles) as 13-point games\, and the tournament formats will be explained on the day. \nLast year the event was oversubscribed. While each Livery company may still submit up to three teams\, confirmation for a third team will only be given after the entry deadline. Third team spots will be allocated based on the order in which applications are received. Two teams are eligible to compete for the “Glovers’ Cup.” Additionally\, or as an alternative to entering the Glovers’ Cup\, companies may participate in the “Inter-Livery Challenge.” \nDress: Comfortable summer attire is suggested\, and white clothing is also acceptable if you prefer. SCCC maintains a strict shoe policy to protect the lawns: only flat shoes are allowed; heels or heavily ridged soles are not permitted. Changing rooms are available at the club\, and you may want to bring suitable clothes in case of wet weather. \nEquipment: Mallets will be available. \nCoaching: For those who require it\, an introduction to Golf Croquet will be given from 09:45 to 10:00. \nLocation: The location of SCCC and other useful details are to be found on their website: www.sussexcountycroquetclub.org.uk\nCar parking is available at the venue.

SUMMARY:September Court & Livery Dinner - Salters Hall
DESCRIPTION:Salters Hall \nIn the long chronicle of the City of London\, Salters’ Hall stands as a testament to endurance\, dignity\, and the steadfast service of the Worshipful Company of Salters\, one of the ancient Great Twelve. From its earliest foundations in the 15th century\, the Hall has been the spiritual and ceremonial heart of a Company whose governance of the salt trade shaped the wellbeing of the realm. \nAcross the centuries\, successive halls have risen and fallen—by fire\, by war\, and by the changing fortunes of the City. The medieval hall in Bread Street gave way to the London Stone Hall of the 17th century\, itself consumed in the Great Fire of 1666. A noble 19th‑century hall followed\, serving generations until the Blitz of 1941 left it in ruins. Yet the Company’s resolve never faltered. \nIn 1976\, a new chapter opened with the inauguration of the present Hall on Fore Street\, designed by Sir Basil Spence. Its bold\, modernist form—now Grade II listed—embodies the Company’s commitment to tradition and progress in equal measure. A further renewal in 2016 ensured that Salters’ Hall remains a place of hospitality\, learning\, and civic fellowship. \nToday\, Salters’ Hall continues to uphold the Company’s historic purpose\, welcoming guests\, nurturing education through the Salters’ Institute\, and preserving the dignity of centuries‑old ceremony within a home that reflects both heritage and modern aspiration.
