STOURBRIDGE GLASS MUSEUM CHARITY AUCTION – Saturday, 14th September 2024 at 14.00pm
On September 14th, between 10.30am and 16.30pm, Stourbridge Glass Museum opens its doors for Heritage Open Day. As part of this event, the museum will be hosting a charity auction helping to raise money for its ring-fenced Collections Fund. The Fund is used to purchase new objects for the museum’s collection. All the items in the sale have been generously donated and bequeathed by collectors, the community, and glass artists.
The auction comprises over 40 individual and group lots of glass from the 18th to the 21st centuries and will also include some books on glass and posters. It will be held in the museum’s events room, which has a capacity of up to 45 people. Please arrive early if you wish to attend the auction and view the objects first hand before the bidding starts. The hammer price will reflect the price you pay, meaning there is no buyer’s premium. Although there will be no live online bidding, prospective buyers will be able to leave absentee bids with Harrison Davies and his colleagues by contacting Harrison via email: hdavies@stourbridgeglassmuseum.org.uk or by calling (0044) 01384 900447.
Simon Cottle, currently Hon. Chairman of The Glass Society and formerly an international auctioneer at Sotheby’s and Bonhams, will be bringing the hammer down on the day.
A list and images of the glass included in the auction will be posted online shortly and on various social media platforms. For further information about this event and others connected with the Heritage Open Day, together with directions to the museum, click on the link below:
