Continuing the theme of Friendship, Camaraderie, and Fun, the Master Glass Seller, David Wilkinson, and Mistress Glass Seller, Mandy Wilkinson, hosted a BBQ at Home in Kent on Saturday, 10th, August 2024.
A gathering of some 50 members of the Glass Sellers and friends in the Garden of England, Kent, rightly named as we were conscious of the fields of Fruit Trees and Hops.
What started as a rather dull and cloudy day in the early morning, the sky opened, revealing its bright blue and the odd cotton wool balls of clouds. Arriving, we passed through an arch of an old established Yew Bush, revealing a courtyard of chairs and tables, laid with bright colours and vases of flowers, all with numerous varieties of shade. Buckets of chilling drinks and the gently smoking BBQ.
Guests were offered glasses of sparkling wine from Italy or alternatives, as they preferred. Greetings abounded as people arrived. Some recounted the excellent day we had had at Phyllis Court a few days earlier, and others inquired about how the day had been. There were a few new faces, too, partners of members who hadn’t attended a Glass Sellers event before.
Luncheon was announced: Numerous bain-maries of BBQ’d foods, poached salmon, and a collection of brightly coloured salads.
The afternoon slipped by as everyone relaxed into the lazing of the day—bright conversation, endless libations, and a selection of strawberries, desserts, and cheeses.
As the afternoon ended and the early evening began, some drifted off to return home while a few people with less distance to travel continued.
Eventually, the day came to an end. Contented with its success, we raised more money for the Glass Sellers Charity Fund.
Huge Thanks to the Master and Mistress.
