becomes a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers
GGF Managing Director John Agnew (second from right)
with fellow Glass Sellers Dave Fordham (Liveryman and Assistant to the Court),
Stuart Hakes (Freeman) and Matthew Demmon (Renter Warden).
At a Court meeting on 19 March ahead of a prestigious dinner at the Cutlers Hall in London, a proposal made by Liveryman Dave Dalton [British Glass CEO] and Immediate Past Master Maria Chanmugam was considered, and Mr Agnew was unanimously elected.
“John has worked in the glass industry for over 30 years and he is a well-recognised figure in the glass community” enthused Ms. Chanmugam. Representing the industry since 1977, the GGF community of over 8000 members accounts for over 60% of the sector’s £4 billion annual turnover. John Agnew holds overall responsibility for operational activity, central internal services and all subsidiary commercial companies.
Other Glass Sellers appointments included the election to Renter Warden of Matthew Demmon, Managing Director of MKD32 and Past President of British Glass.
Initially founded in 1664 to regulate the glass selling and pot-making industries within the City of London, the role of the Glass Sellers today is to stimulate interest in glass in all its aspects and carry out charitable works, with special emphasis on education.
