Members in the News – Glass Sellers at Furnace Solutions Conference

The Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London was well represented among the global glass community that gathered in St Helens for the 20th Furnace Solutions Conference.

Alongside Councillor George Woodward, Leader of St Helens Borough Council, Past Master Richard Katz delivered a welcome address to an international audience that included Master Glass Seller Matthew Demmon, Liverymen Dave Fordham and Stuart Hakes, and Freemen Nicolas Joujou and Juraj Raič.

Stuart and Juraj both chaired technical sessions that explored the conference theme ‘Decarbonisation: What’s the Reality?’, while Dave coordinated tours of Glass Futures’ Global Centre of Excellence, enabling delegates to see first-hand how collaborative research and industrial-scale trials are helping to accelerate the transition to low-carbon glass manufacturing.

With The Master, Richard, Dave, and Stuart in attendance, Liveryman Chris Beedel joined proceedings for a UK Glass & Glazing Collective meeting staged during the opening day of the conference. The meeting brought together representatives from the Glass Sellers, Glass & Glazing Federation, British Glass, Glass Futures, and the Society of Glass Technology to discuss opportunities to raise the profile of the sector with government and other key stakeholders.

Congratulations to the Society of Glass Technology on delivering an excellent conference and thank you to Glass Futures for hosting the UK Glass & Glazing Collective meeting.

It was particularly encouraging to see so many Glass Sellers actively involved throughout the event, demonstrating the Company’s continuing relevance to the sector and helping to strengthen its profile within the international glass community.
